This painting, titled “Awkward,” is a reflection of my 15-year journey surviving depression and battling with suicide. It portrays what I imagine I looked like during the depths of my depression, capturing the contrast between my inner turmoil and the facade of how the world viewed me. On the surface, I appeared to be a normal, capable, and charismatic man, while inside I felt isolated and utterly out of place. This is a painting of that awkwardness.
